Advertise Space is a blog by chad randall that talks alot about online advertising especially about paid advertising space on a website that chad says can be much more valuable than many free ad programs because companies will pay more money on a decent blog then that blog could for example make with a cpc ad company. this is actually backed up by many income reports of the guru's who make the biggest income check from private deal advertising where the advertisers directly pay the person who owns the website. the reason that ad space is so valuable is the fact that cpc and cpm and cpi companies obviously cut their costs to the publishers to ensure max money for them, cheap opportunities for the companies advertising and the fact that if a publisher leaves anouther one will fill the publishers place. to add to this in for example a cpc program most people dont have a very good optimization game like the greats do and as a result the ads are highly visible but no body will click them so its really like free advertising. the companies and ad companies know this and as a result people like shoemoney and john chow have long noted that the ignorant publisers who dont game it with their ads are making the cpc ad companies very wealthy. this is all fine and good to the publishers perspective because many publishers simply dont want the ads in the redzones because they devalue a site instantly and limit the ammount of linking from real people. as a result many building phase sites keep the ads out of the red click zones.
i think ad space can be especially effective because you have controll over it and if quality advertisers are giving you unique ads served on your ad box then it can also ad value to the site unline the spammy cpc ad companies that most of the advertisers are arbitarrage sites or like ebay or yahoo searches put into the ad slot. this can hurt your revenue as you get like one cent or empty clicks for these advertisers as well as they just make your site look bad because people can intuitively tell if something is a little weird. check out advertise space if you are interested in this great way to make money online with your website or blog
